The word basmati means "queen of fragrance," but is popularly known as the "king of rice." This particular rice was milled in the state of Uttar Pradesh in Dehra Dun, the rice capitol of India. The elongated and slender kernels are unique for their buttery and nut-like flavor. Basmati rices are aged for six to ten months to heighten its taste and aroma. Their distinct taste and fluffy grains are used ideally everyday in pulaos and biryanis.
