Fresh Balushahi Sweet

Balushahi, also known as Badushahs (also spelled bhadushah) are made from a stiff dough of all-purpose flour, ghee and a pinch of baking soda. One-inch-diameter , 1⁄2-inch-thick discs are shaped by hand, fried in oil and dunked in thick sugar syrup to make a sugar coating. They are very sweet, but tasty with a slightly flaky texture. They are garnished with pistachio and almond shavings.

Ingredients: Wheat flour, vegetable shortening (corn oil), milk, sugar, baking soda, almonds & pistachio.
