| The term curry, derived from kari, is a Tamil word meaning "sauce," referring to various dishes common to South India, made with vegetables or meat and often eaten with rice. Nowadays the term is used more broadly, especially in the Western hemisphere, referring to almost any spiced, sauce-based dish cooked in a South and Southeast Asian style. Devya Vegetable Curry offers you the choice of adding your favorite vegetables to create a meal bursting with Indian flavor.
PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS: Chop 1-2 cups of vegetables and stir fry in a lightly greased skillet on medium heat approx 5-7 mins. Time may vary depending on choice of vegetable(s). Empty contents of jar into skillet with cooked vegetables and mix well. Add water for desired consistency, cover and simmer for 7-10 mins.
SUGGESTION: Use one or more of the following vegetables to make an ideal vegetable curry: cauliflower, red and/or green pepper(s), peas, carrots, mushrooms and potatoes. For a hotter curry add cayenne pepper.
Serve over steamed Basmati rice and/or with Indian flatbreads such as naan and chapati.
