| Organic Channa Masala Simmer Sauce is a classic North Indian vegetarian dish made with chick peas (also known as garbanzo beans). By adding your own peppers or spices, this sauce can be as mild or as hot as you like it! It is especially delicious when served with freshly cooked Basmati rice and a side salad.
PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS: Empty contents of jar into a medium size pot or deep skillet. Drain 1 can (540 mL) of chick peas or 1 cup of cooked chick peas and add to simmer sauce. Mix well so chick peas are well coated. Add water for desired consistency, cover and simmer on medium heat for 12-15 mins.
SUGGESTION: As an alternative to canned chick peas, soak dry chick peas overnight in 3/4 cup water. Drain and add to simmer sauce. Chick peas may be substituted for your choice of legume(s).
Garnish with diced onions and tomatoes.
Serve over Basmati rice and/or with Indian naan bread.
